Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad is the city located on the bank of the Sabarmati river in Gujarat. Ahmedabad is the largest and one of the most famous city of Gujarat. known for its rich history, Culture and Rapid industrial growth. In 2017,  Ahmedabad was become the first UNESCO World Heritage city due to its rich architectural activity.

Ahmedabad was founded by Sultan Ahmed Shah in 1411 AD. It is Served as an important city under the Mughal Empire. Ahmedabad is close to GIFT City of india because it was the first International Financial Service Centre(IFSC).

Places to Visit in Ahmedabad

1. Sabarmati Riverfront

Sabarmati Riverfront

The Sabarmati Riverfront is located along the Sabarmati river, the length of the riverfront is about 11 km approx, Develop by sabarmati riverfront development corporation Ltd (SRFDCL). It was the world class urban development project. Before the project, Sabarmati River was a neglected and polluted riverbank. But after completing the project it became a vibrant and cleanest riverbank in ahmedabad. It was used for cultural events, walking, cycling and many more thing. 

Key Attraction
  • Wide road on both side of the river for walking, jogging, relaxing and Cycling and there was a Gardens, Benches, Trees , Flower, Fountain and Children area for playing.
  • There was Boating Station which offers speedboats, pedal boats and jet skiling.
  • Sabarmati riverfront  have a event ground for hosting festival, concerts and exhibitions.

2. Sabarmati Ashram

Sabarmati Ashram


Sabarmati ashram was located on the bank of the Sabarmati river in Vadaj, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. It was the residence of Mahatma Gandhi from 1917 to 1930. Sabarmati Ashram was served as the headquarters for the non violent freedom movement and symbol of the struggle of independence for india. 

Another name of the Sabarmati ashram is Satyagraha Ashram / Gandhi Ashram / Harijan Ashram. The Time of the Entry is from 8.30 AM to 6.30 PM. There is No entry fees for the visitors.

  • Hriday Kunj :- Gandhiji Personal Living Quarters. 
  • Gandhi Smarak :- Personal thing of Gandhiji like written letters, Photographs etc.
  • Magan Niwas :- Exhibits tools and techniques used for making Khadi.
  • Charkha Gallery :- Displays Various types of Spinning wheels. 
  • Upasana Mandir :- An open area where Gandhi and ashram residents gathering for prayers.

3. Adalaj Stepwell

Adalaj Stepwell

Adalaj Stepwell, also known as Adalaj ni Vav, Located in Adalaj village about 18 km from  Ahemdabad. It was famous due to the extraordinary ancient water conservation techniques.   

It have a Five level deep, descending down in a spiral like pattern, this design is built to store water and keep it cool even in the summer time. The pillars and beams create a series of platforms and galleries. Ceiling and walls have a delicate jaali, allowing light and air to enter while keeping the interior cool.

The Time of the Entry is from 8.00 AM to 6.00 PM. There is No entry fees for the visitors. 

4. Kankaria Lake 



Kankaria Lake is the city largest artificial lake, located in the Maninagar area of Ahmedabad Gujarat. A Lake have a 34 sided polygonal design, encompassing an area of approx 76 acres.

Lake offers a variety of attractive thing around him : 
  • Nagina Wadi :- An Island garden situated at the centre of the lake.
  • Kamla Nehru Zoo :- Zoo for the numerous animal species.
  • Toy Train :- A mini train offering rides around the lake, providing scenic views of the surrounding.
  • Ballon Ride :- A hot air balloon ride that offers aerial view of the lake and cityscape.
  • Boating :- Various Boating options are available , including speed boats,pontoon boots and pedal boat.

  The lakefront is open from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM

5. Auto World Vintage Car Museum

Auto World Vintage Car Museum

The Auto World Vintage Car Museum is a remarkable collection of over 100 vintage cars, motorcycles, and horse drawn carriages at a single place. It was established by the late Shri Pranlal Bhogilal, a passionate automobile lover, In Museum vehicles from top brand like Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Mercedes-Benz, Cadillac and many more.

Visitors have the unique opportunity to ride in some of the vintage cars for an additional fee, enhancing the immersive experience.

The Museum not only preserves automobile history but also offers insights into the luxurious lifestyles of india's erstwhile royalty and elite.

6. Jama Masjid

Jama Masjid

The Jama Masjid was located near the Manek Chowk, old Ahmedabad, It was one of the most stunning and historical mosques of india. It was built by Sultan Shah in 1424 AD. It have a Massive hall for prayer, With 260 intricately carved stone pillars for supporting the roof. It  a peaceful spot , which offers a spiritual experience but also a rich architectural of the ahmedabad cultural history.

Calico Museum

Calico Museum

The Calico Museum is located in Shahibaug area of Ahmedabad. It is also known as a Textiles museum of Ahmedabad, It is one of the most famous textile museums in the world. It was  Founded in 1949 by the Calico Mills, the museum shows an extensive collection of textiles, which highlight India as a rich history and diversity in fabric production and design.
  • Textile Collections :- The museum having an impressive collection of traditional Indian textiles, such as rare saris, brocades, and embroideries which include Mughal-era fabrics, Kalamkari, Pochampally Ikat, Kutch embroidery, Banarasi silk, and patola silk.

  • Rare and Unique Pieces :- The museum is known for its rare fabrics like Mughal and Rajput court textiles, embroidered quilts.

Timing :-  It generally opens for visitors from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM (closed on Wednesdays).
